Community Voices Blog
Welcome to the Writing Bolton blog, a space where we celebrate the many ways reading shapes our lives, memories, and communities.
Throughout the year, the Reading Bolton project invites people across the borough to respond to a new monthly theme inspired by books, stories, and Bolton’s rich literary heritage. Each theme encourages readers and writers of all ages to share reflections, memories, creative pieces, or short responses about the role reading has played in their lives.
On this blog, we’ll feature selected submissions from the community, highlight standout responses, and share reflections from the project as it unfolds. Some pieces will be nostalgic, remembering the first book that sparked a lifelong love of reading, while others may explore favourite characters, powerful quotations, or the places and people that shaped our reading journeys.
Our aim is simple: to create a welcoming space where voices can be heard, and where the shared experience of reading becomes something we celebrate together.
Whether you’re a lifelong reader, someone rediscovering books, or simply curious about the stories others carry with them, this blog is here to showcase the many different ways reading connects us.
If you’d like to contribute to a future theme, we’d love to hear from you.
